4.1 Roles

  • Temperature distribution during machining

    Tool/workpiece/chip contact generates considerable heat (figure 7 ). The lubricant must evacuate this heat, i.e. it must be :

    • very wet ;

    • as smoothly as possible;

    • at a sufficient flow rate.
