2. Modeling
All modeling is built with a view to predicting, in fine, the response of a structure (in this case metallic) to a loading (in this case dynamic). To achieve such a prediction, all aspects of behavior must be considered, including fracture. We won't be considering the most general problems here (analyzed in , for example), instead focusing on the traditional behavior linking macroscopic mechanical quantities. In the case of metals, models capable of taking velocity sensitivity into account are derived from classical plasticity.
