non-destructive testing; contrôle non destructif
Physical examination method for detecting a continuity solution in a material. The examination may be :
surface such as visual (VT), or dye penetrant (RT);
superficial/subcutaneous such as magnetization (MT);
(or compactness) such as ionizing radiation (RT) or ultrasound (UT and its variants: TOFD, Phased Array ).
Zone fondue; weld metal
In fusion welding, a zone in which the metal (or alloy) has been momentarily brought to a liquid state (molten bath) and, after cooling to room temperature, presents a solidification structure, possibly modified by subsequent thermal cycle(s) of reheating + cooling in connection with multi-pass deposits....
