4. Installation and operation

4.1 Pre-assembly precautions

Assembly operations must be carried out with the machine at a standstill, locked and secured. The equipment must be under atmospheric pressure, at room temperature, degassed and purged. All control valves must be locked.

The way in which the trim is handled is of paramount importance. The installation instructions for all seals must be read carefully and followed. Please refer to the Guide to Installation, Commissioning and Maintenance of Mechanical Seals [1] [Doc. BM 5 426].
