4. Circuit auxiliaries

4.1 Piping. Hoses. Fittings. Rotating joints

Generally speaking, connections between components must satisfy the following two rules:

  • absolute tightness up to very high pressures ;

  • minimum pressure drop for a given size or price.

For all these elements, we find the notions of :

  • safety coefficient for pressure resistance ;

  • permeability or equivalent cross-section for head losses.

The safety factor is the ratio of the burst or leak pressure at ambient temperature to the working pressure. The usual coefficient is 3.5, but...
