1.1 Examples of IFS in hydrodynamics

In hydrodynamics, the effects of fluid-structure interaction can manifest themselves in a variety of situations, and need to be accounted for using appropriate modeling, as well as accurate and efficient numerical methods to represent them in a numerical simulation.

A calculation is usually carried out to answer a design question, as discussed later in this article. Simulation is then used to :
