Some areas of turbomachinery are difficult to measure. Numerical simulation enables us to calculate all the parameters needed to understand internal, stationary and unsteady flow phenomena. In the case of turbomachinery, numerical simulation involves solving the averaged 2D or 3D Navier-Stokes equations. These machines are characterized by highly complex surfaces: blades, flanges, volutes (figure 8 ).
