 INTRODUCTION

The aim of this article is to provide the reader with the means to quickly quantify heat transfer phenomena in piping systems, particularly those designed to carry water or steam, under the usual conditions encountered in service.

We will examine :

  • heat loss 1 ;

  • determining the optimum insulation thickness 2 ;

  • the maximum permissible heating speed 3 ;

  • some ideas on sizing condensate drainage pipes 4 .
