3. Mechanically driven kinetic pumps

This group includes various types of pumps with extremely different performances and fields of application, since the vacuum produced ranges from vacuum of around ten thousand pascals to extreme vacuum (10 -10 Pa).

3.1 Turbine compressors

Normative definition: "A rotating kinetic pump in which large quantities of gas are transferred by means of a device rotating at high speed. Dynamic sealing is achieved without friction. Gas flows either along the pump axis (axial-flow depressor) or perpendicular to the pump axis (radial-flow depressor).
