4. Modeling mixture formation

The aim here is to give an overview of the means of calculating and modelling the mixture-forming components in the most common applications (pulverized liquid fuel). As this is an area where major developments are still expected, the models presented here are not very detailed and provide only general trends, and exhaustive tests must be systematically undertaken to fine-tune engine combustion chambers. Readers are referred to the article on atomization in Techniques de l'Ingénieur (to be published in the Sciences fondamentales database, see [Doc. BM 2 550v2 ], under "À lire dans nos bases").
