2.1 Steam turbine blades
Turbine rotor blades have to withstand both constant loads, such as centrifugal forces, and dynamic loads, mainly due to steam flow. While the calculation of certain physical quantities, such as centrifugal stresses, is relatively straightforward, the same cannot be said of dynamic stresses, which must be determined when resonance phenomena occur.
When designing a mechanical blading system, it is necessary to carry out a vibration analysis, the various phases of which are shown in the diagram at 4 .
