9. Conclusions and outlook
Solid-phase chemistry requires fine-tuning of reactions, which can be particularly useful in multi-stage cyclising synthesis or in asymmetric synthesis for simplified recycling of catalysts. Thanks to the commercialization of supported reagents and scavengers, solid-phase synthesis is now accessible to all. These efficient and easy-to-use tools should therefore be given priority. However, for high-volume production, the cost of the support must be weighed against the time and risk savings.
New syntheses developed in the liquid phase are generally transferred in parallel to the solid phase. The development of new, ever more efficient linkers, the transfer to organometallic chemistry and multi-component reactions is booming, as can be seen from the growing number of journals and books.
