3. Equipment

3.1 How do you generate high pressure?

High hydrostatic pressures can be achieved using five main types of equipment. They complement each other and are chosen according to the pressures to be achieved and the desired useful volume.

  • High-pressure enclosure

    The high-pressure chamber is a cylinder closed by shutters and connected by hyperbaric tubing and valves to an external pressure generator, itself consisting of a multiplier or pump. This type of installation can compress large volumes (several hundred liters) at pressures of up to 6 kbar.
