The high penetration of renewable energies and decentralized production methods will make it necessary to implement "smart" interconnection networks ( smart grids), capable of managing exchanges that can be reversed (users becoming producers) and compensating for intermittent supply from certain energy producers. .
Smart grids will require very substantial investments, which could increase worldwide from $30.6 billion in 2020 to $162.4 billion in 2030....
