4. Methanization
4.1 Objectives and principles
Methanization is an anaerobic digestion process generally pursuing a dual objective of energy recovery through methane (CH 4 ) and stabilization of organic waste with a view to material recovery through its partial return to the soil.
The overall treatment process often comprises at least 2 stages, as shown in figure 7 .
