Microalgae; Microalga
Photosynthetic single-cell organism that can belong to very different branches of biodiversity.
Photosynthèse; Photosynthesis
Biological process by which certain organisms convert light energy into chemical energy ("photo-"), and then use this to capture atmospheric CO 2 and synthesize carbonaceous organic molecules ("-synthesis"). Photosynthesis is the point of entry for carbon into living matter, and underpins all the food webs that enable life to exist.
Huile algale; Algal oil
An oil is formed by any hydrophobic molecules that separate from an aqueous medium. Within an algal cell, oil is formed by a particular lipid, triacyglycerol.
