5. Conclusion
The Law on Energy Transition for Green Growth (LTECV) enacted in 2015 sets an ambitious national target of 10% renewable gas in consumption by 2030. The multi-annual energy programming (PPE) resulting from this law, for example, specifies, through the decree of October 27, 2016, production targets for biomethane injection of 1.7 TWh/year in 2018 and 8 TWh/year in 2023. These examples underline the very strong growth momentum surrounding methanization, whose application to effluents from food processing industries is set to enjoy significant growth in the years ahead.
At European level, the EU directive of April 2009 on the promotion of renewable energies (RE) sets a target of 20% RE in total European energy consumption by 2020, and biogas is one of the renewable energy sources that can help achieve this goal.
