1. General context and proposed approach

1.1 National legislative framework

The new national seismic legislation of 2010 consists of two general decrees and several orders dealing with seismic design rules applicable to different types of civil engineering structures:

  • buildings (new and existing) ;

  • decks (new only) ;

  • equipment (pipes, piping, silos, tanks, tall and slender structures, etc.);

  • facilities classified for environmental protection (ICPE), etc.
