1. Stereoisomers

1.1 Examples

In 1974, Roussel-UCLAF proudly presented deltamethrin as a stereoisomerically clean insecticide, free of its seven stereoisomers. In other cases of bioactive products, undesirable stereoisomers had only been removed from the market under the pressure of accidents (thalidomide) or post-marketing toxicological studies (hexachlorocyclohexane).

Lambda-cyhalothrin is the (ISO) name of the "1/1 ratio mixture of (Z)-(1R,3S), S ester and (Z)-(1S,3S), R ester" of α-cyano-3-phenoxybenzyl 3-(2-chloro- 3,3,3-trifluoroprop-1-enyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylate.
