7. Preventive population information
Citizens have a right to information on the major risks to which they are exposed in certain areas of the country, and on the protective measures that concern them. This right applies to technological and foreseeable risks.
Livre V – Titre VI – Chapitre 1 er of the French Environment Code, entitled "Mesures de sauvegarde des populations menacées par certains risques naturels majeurs de l'Environnement" (Measures to protect populations threatened by certain major natural environmental risks), defines the conditions under which the public authorities can intervene to prevent major natural risks in advance, or after a disaster, if communes have not drawn up a PPRn or if it has not been complied with.
