5. How to care for, maintain and store your respirator

5.1 General principles

A respirator is an individual piece of equipment whose performance depends on the quality of its care and maintenance.

When an APR is reusable, it must be disinfected and serviced after each use, in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. In addition, when equipment is intended to be used over a very long period (up to several years), preventive maintenance, always in line with the manufacturer's recommendations, must be carried out to ensure that its performance lasts.

All "product" standards give a minimum list of indications that the manufacturer must include in his information leaflet concerning equipment maintenance, such as :
