2. Reference model

To properly situate the MADS-MOSAR method, it is necessary to take stock of the problem of risk management.

Risk management is a cross-disciplinary body of knowledge whose aim is to deal with (identify, control, manage and manage) unwanted or undesirable events (malfunctions) arising from the structure, activity, evolution, purpose or environment of natural or artificial systems.

These events cause or are likely to cause impacts on installations and/or living beings such as individuals, populations and ecosystems.

Applying this knowledge to the problem of risk analysis first requires epistemological reflection, in order to identify a unified language and cross-disciplinary concepts.
