3. Inventory of sources, emissions and health effects

Pollutants measured in indoor air come from a variety of sources:

  • pollutants of external origin :

    • industrial and automotive pollutants: carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, lead, particulates, certain volatile organic compounds – VOCs, etc,

    • agricultural pollutants (insecticides, fungicides and fertilizers, nitrogen compounds from livestock farming and dust),

    • soil (natural radon emissions),

    • pollens and molds;

  • indoor pollutants :
