1. Presentation

Risk management is an inescapable requirement in our modern industrial societies, where major accidents have become unacceptable. In the corporate world, the importance of safety is well established. The best way to control accident risks is through operational safety (OS), which is a set of methods and concepts ( [1] [2] ).

The HAZOP method (Hazard and operability studies) is part of the SoTL, proposing an approach to improving the safety and processes of a system (planned or existing industrial installation).
