4. Conclusion

On a statistical basis, high steam pressure reaction systems account for 90-95% of the demand for vent sizing in France. This demand relates to reactors already equipped with vents, for which the sizing needs to be justified, or to the construction of a new reactor for a process that is usually protected by an emergency vent.

The processes concerned are the manufacture of formo-phenolic resins or other resins, various polymerizations using acrylic or vinyl reactive monomers, and the manufacture of latexes. American companies are interested in vent sizing because, in the USA, these same processes are subject to vent protection.
