1. Liquid resin flow in a stationary fibrous reinforcement

Some processes, or stages of a process, allow resin to flow into a reinforcement without deforming it. This condition is due to the technology employed, for example in RTM (Resin Transfer Molding), where resin viscosity and flow speeds are low enough not to cause deformation of the fibrous network.

1.1 Saturated flow in a homogeneous medium

In this section, we focus on the flow of low-viscosity resin in a fibrous reinforcement of permeability K, which does not deform as the fluid passes through it. Moreover, the presence of air at the flow front is neglected; the flow is therefore described as monophasic. It is assumed that the flow can be described by Darcy's law, and that the fluid is incompressible and of constant viscosity η.
