2. The materials

The materials used in injection moulding processes come in a variety of forms:

  • powdered state, for thermosetting resins such as phenoplasts (bakelite, formophenolic resin), for certain thermoplastics (polyvinyl chloride, for example) and for silicones;

  • granules, for thermoplastics ;

  • pasty state, for fiber-reinforced unsaturated polyester resins used in the BMC (Bulk Molding Compound) process.

2.1 Packaging and storage

Powdered and granulated materials are delivered :

  • either in bulk in tankers and transferred to silos located near the processing plants;
