8. Kinetics of polycondensations and polyadditions

It is not possible to establish kinetic relationships that are applicable to all polycondensations and polyadditions, whereas this can be done for chain polymerizations. This is because each type of polycondensation has its own chemistry and obeys its own specific mechanisms and kinetic laws. The kinetics of polyesterifications have been studied in particular, and provide a model for the study of other polycondensations; their essential aspects are given in paragraph 8.1 .
