3. Implementation

3.1 Thermoforming

The thermoforming technique uses semi-finished materials such as rigid thermoplastic sheets to transform them into three-dimensional objects with a wall thickness close to the thickness of the starting material.

This is a secondary transformation process, in which the plates or sheets are softened by heating before being shaped by application to a simple geometric mold.

The thermoforming process is divided into five stages:

  • a plastic plate is placed in a frame which holds it above the mould;

  • the plate is heated to the temperature required for forming;

  • the softened plate and the mould are brought into contact...
