4. Material transport

Conveyor belts are made up of a textile (polyester or polyamide) or metal carcass sandwiched between two rubber covers, one on the load-bearing side and the other on the running side. Depending on the properties required, the basic elastomers used for the load-bearing side are :

  • SBR for improved abrasion resistance;

  • NBR for improved oil resistance;

  • EPDM or CR for better temperature resistance of both layers.
