8. Conclusion
Thermoplastic composites are lightweight, high-performance materials that are increasingly used in a variety of sectors. Various technologies can be used to join thermoplastic polymers and/or composites, such as resistance welding, vibration, induction, ultrasound and infrared radiation. However, transmission laser welding is considered one of the most efficient and cleanest methods for joining thermoplastic composites.
Thermoplastic composites have thermophysical and optical properties that depend on the architecture and nature of the reinforcement, as well as the nature and morphology of the polymer used as matrix.
