5. Process implementation

5.1 R-RIM molding cycle

The standard molding cycle (figure 7 ) for a part processed by the R-RIM process can be described as follows:

  • PRESS OPENING;

  • demoulding of the previous part after movement of the moving parts of the tooling, if necessary;

  • brief cleaning of the mould to remove any burrs from the parting lines;

  • application of external release agent where non-self-releasing materials are used;

  • moving the mould's moving parts so that the mould can be closed;

  • closing the press after tilting...
