4. Color management

4.1 Color space

The range of colors that can be rendered by a device is called the "reproducible color space" or, more simply, the "gamut".

The gamuts of the different materials overlap, but do not coincide. As a result, the same color is rendered differently depending on the context.

To guarantee consistent color throughout the graphics chain, computer applications use color management systems. Colorimetric profiles are incorporated into files to ensure color consistency (figure 6 ).
