3.1 The interdependence of factors

The interdependence of organizational factors complicates the diagnostic process. What's more, factors do not always interact in the same direction, as certain observables can have an aggravating or a diminishing effect; this is the case, for example, with collectives, which can be both a recovery factor and a source of new errors [16] . Finally, some observables may be factors in their own right, depending on the grain of analysis used.
