6. Configuration management

6.1 Objectives and tasks

To ensure that each copy of a product produced or in service meets the customer's requirements under optimum cost and delivery conditions, the supplier and customer must implement a configuration management system(*) that meets the following objectives:

  • to know at all times the technical description of the product and its components, by means of a certain amount of information contained in documents approved successively at different stages of the project, in order to control the design, qualify the definition and finally to be able to make available the definition data required to produce the expected product;
