4. Layout diagrams
Implementation studies do indeed begin in the design phase. However, it is advisable to diagram process constraints as development progresses, and at the end of the development phase at the latest, on :
a brief layout plan to give an overall view of the project, with varying degrees of detail depending on our knowledge of the site;
an elevation diagram of process equipment to define the relative position of devices required by the process (nature of products, gravity flows, hydraulic guards, vents, etc.).
In the design phase, layout studies are used to draw up preliminary diagrams. They are based on the process diagrams, the completed equipment list, and general process and safety constraints.
