6. Theory of constraints

6.1 Origins

The Theory of Constraints stems from the highly original thinking of Dr. Eliyahu Goldratt (1947-2011). Contrary to Cartesian analytical thinking, which embraces complexity, Goldratt considers that every system is extremely simple and that, if we take into account interactions and interdependencies, it is possible to identify a few levers for action to understand and control it. Goldratt initially tried to disseminate his ideas through workshop scheduling and control software. In 1984, he published his first book: "Le But, un processus de progrès permanent" ....
