4.1 Comparative testing and product safety

Safety is always a criterion in comparative product testing, and these tests often reveal safety defects.

In 1997, for example, a laboratory test carried out by the Union féminine civique et sociale (UFCS) showed that motorcycle helmets did not comply with regulations and posed safety problems.

Over the past ten years, tests carried out by UFC-Que Choisir have revealed the safety defects of numerous products, leading the association to take action: ceramic hobs, children's car seats, electric toy motorcycles, bunk beds, breathalyzers, refrigerators, bottle nipples...
