6.1 Introducing device
The first pneumatic conveying systems used suction. As a result, the technology of the parts used to introduce the product into the conveying line and speed it up was relatively straightforward, since they were at atmospheric pressure. With the advent of discharge systems, it became necessary to devise mechanisms for introducing a product into a line where the pressure is sometimes considerable.
The first systems to be developed were rotary valves with a pressure differential of less than 1 bar, and shipping tanks with a pressure differential of between 1 and 6 bar.
