Louis RANOUX: Allibert manutention
INTRODUCTION
Materials handling has proved to be an ideal application sector for plastics, which are very often an integral part of everyday life in this sector, when they have not simply supplanted other materials. The quantities of pallets, box pallets and, in particular, totes demanded by the market have made it possible, on the one hand, to amortize the considerable tooling costs involved in their manufacture and, on the other, to obtain very attractive prices despite the fluctuating price of the raw material (oil). Plastics offer designers of industrial packaging, and pallets and totes in particular, the flexibility and adaptability to user requirements that often make them indispensable.
The current global trend towards greater awareness of environmental requirements and an emphasis on reusable packaging, to the detriment of waste-generating non-returnable packaging, promises further growth prospects for this sector in the short to medium term.
