1. Definition and classification

  • General definition

    Mobile personnel elevators are machines designed to place people in a working position from a platform or basket mounted on a lifting structure attached to a vehicle or on a towed, pushed or self-propelled chassis.

  • Classification

    Classification can be based on several criteria:

    • type of use: indoor or outdoor, industrial or off-road;

    • mode of travel :

      • platform mounted on wheels and movable by hand or self-propelled forklift. These include maintenance platforms that can also be used for assembly work,

      • towable platform moved by a vehicle to its place of work, usually outdoors,
