3. Schur's methods
Historically, Schur methods have often been called substructuring methods. However, we have seen that Schwarz methods can also be written in substructured form, so we prefer to use the terminology of Schur methods. There are two main variants, the primal Schur method and the dual Schur method. We'll see that the two methods are closely related, and each is an excellent preconditioner for the other.
