2. Principle of solid-phase NMR
NMR is a non-destructive structural analysis technique based on the nuclear spin (I) property of certain nuclei. The notion of nuclear spin is purely quantum in nature, and can be rigorously treated mathematically within the framework of quantum mechanics . It has been demonstrated that I can only take on integer (0, 1...) or half-integer (3/2, 5/2...) values. NMR is only possible when I ≠ 0. The properties of a few nuclei of interest to our presentation are shown in Table
