2. Definitions of endocrine disruptors

According to the definition adopted by the WHO and the OECD in 2002 and revised in 2012, "an endocrine disruptor is a substance or mixture of substances that alters the functions of the endocrine system and thereby induces harmful effects on the health of an intact organism, its descendants or (sub)populations".

This definition applies to all living organisms. The search for endocrine disruptors is therefore essential to protect human and animal health, as well as the environment.
