9. Dealing with the problem of endocrine disruptors
In a national and international context where the definition of endocrine disruptors is still imprecise, reliable testing methods are still inadequate and regulatory directives are still evolving, it is difficult for industry and research laboratories to anticipate the measures to be taken.
However, it is wise to bear in mind the following points:
Substitute a substance recognized or strongly suspected of being an endocrine disruptor with a substance that is not recognized as an endocrine disruptor;
ensure that personnel are not exposed to substances suspected of being endocrine disruptors, and that adequate protective measures are taken (equipment, procedures, controls), with particular attention to pregnant and breast-feeding women;
