6. Payments for environmental services (PES)
The most commonly accepted definition of PES is as follows: "It is a voluntary transaction in which a clearly defined environmental service is purchased by one or more users from one or more 'suppliers', with payment taking place if and only if the supplier actually provides the service" .
The methods of monetary valuation of ecosystem services already mentioned in this article can be mobilized for technical purposes, and more specifically to define an agri-environmental policy in which the amount of payments would depend on the environmental service rendered...
