3. Natural water analysis. Water quality assessment criteria
The analytical study of water is carried out as part of physical, chemical and bacteriological studies and research, or during studies concerning microflora and microfauna, with a view to using water for human consumption, industrial needs or, in the case of mineral waters, to explain as fully as possible the phenomena that occur in them, and to predict their medicinal properties.
Water analysis is still essential during the preliminary study of a natural resource, and may also be required for the institution of purification treatment depending on the subsequent use of the water.
Last but not least, it is essential in the context of monitoring and regulatory control of water for human consumption, in order to guarantee its quality for the consumer, with reference to two main aspects: health and hygiene, and comfort and pleasure.
