4. Essential steps in a renaturation project

A successful renaturation project requires first and foremost the creation of a multidisciplinary team to design and oversee the project. The team should at least include renaturation specialists (ecologists, naturalists) and ideally involve various local authority departments. It can also call on the expertise of research organizations and local associations, and if possible, involve local residents affected by the project. Bringing together a number of stakeholders from the outset of the project enables a diversity of viewpoints to be taken into account.
