2.1 A functional approach to understanding and predicting species functioning
In the previous section, we saw that the structure of a weed community could be described by the list of species that make it up, their diversity and relative abundance. Beyond this taxonomic approach, the functional approach proposes to describe organisms by their functional properties, more directly usable in an ecological and agroecological context in relation to the functions provided.
