4. Ecological management of plant cover
This section focuses on the vegetation planted (hereafter referred to as "plant cover") and managed in the vineyard plot, with the aim of fulfilling certain services expected at plot level (agricultural production, soil maintenance) while minimizing the dysservices associated with the presence of the cover (competition for mineral and water resources in particular). In fact, the balance between the services and disservices rendered by the plant cover and their temporality depends on how the cover is managed over the course of the viticultural cycle. It is therefore important to define strategies in response to production objectives and context.
